Seventh Annual Used Book Sale to Benefit the Astor Judaica Library June 5th - 15th (closed on Saturday)

All proceeds will directly benefit the Astor Judaica Library, which is a central community resource for Judaic information. The Library houses 16,000 volumes and many special collections including: Tillie Lawrence Israel Collection, Holocaust collection, Woman's Institute for Continuing Jewish Education, Jewish Healing Center, San Diego Jewish Genealogical Society, and a multimedia collection. Arrive early for the best selection.

Baby Book Club (BBC) Designed for 9 month–36 month olds, the BBC promotes pre-literacy for our youngest children. While developing an appreciation for books and reading, their moms develop a network of new friends. This one hour bi-weekly program which takes place in the JCC's Astor Judaica Library includes group storytelling, flannel board stories, art projects, and music. Enthusiastically facilitated by Cathy Kamin.

The BBC is co-sponsored by Shalom Baby, the Astor Judaica Library, and Nierman Preschool, and is now a Camp Jaycee program. Enjoy films on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month at 12:30pm in the Astor Judaica Library. Brief Shabbat celebration follows films. $2/JCC Member; $3/Non-member to help cover refreshments. The Holocaust Education Program (HEP) draws upon lessons of the past to implement methods of understanding diversity. While the Holocaust was an event that victimized Jews, its theme of evil is universal and identified with all humanity. Continued innovative programming is needed to build community tolerance, create cultural dialogues, and promote greater appreciation of diversity. The Astor Judaica Library and Community Holocaust Memorial & Garden (shown right) provide the perfect settings for this program. To date, the Holocaust Education Program has accomplished:
